Taylor Swift is not the only one: other pop girls on the animated movie soundtrack, The better singer and performer Shakira is also represented

It seems the biggest pop stars are lining up to provide the soundtracks for 2026’s most anticipated animated film releases.

Taylor Swift has just released "I Knew It, I Knew You" as the lead single from the fifth instalment of the Toy Story franchise. And beyond that musical surprise, speculation about Sabrina Carpenter and Dua Lipa contributing to the soundtrack of the next Minions film has been rife on social media. So we could have three of our favourite pop stars involved not only in their own releases but also shaping the sound of animated cinema.

But these three are not the only ones involved in music for this kind of film. Since animated movies began to be made, many artists have not only voiced characters but have also provided songs for their scenes.

So here’s a list — which could serve as the basis for a perfect playlist — of the musical stars who have created soundtracks or lead songs for successful animated films.
Shakira and Zootropolis

Shakira, as well as voicing the pop star Gazelle in the Zootropolis franchise, also performed the main songs for both films. The first featured the famous "Try Everything", which became something of an anthem in 2016; the second included the collaboration with Ed Sheeran and Blake Slatkin, "Zoo".
