Well, the immersive #reading experiment is on. I discovered that I read a lot faster than the narrator reading the book, so actually trying to follow along is very difficult for me. Instead, I listen and take notes and then find the place in the book where the narrator is reading. The only thing this does for me is keep me focused on the book, and I really don't think it does it that much better than either reading the book or listening to the audio. I'll see how I do tomorrow. (1/2)

The book, by the way, is "The Artist's Way" by Julia Cameron. I'm 25 pages into it. It has a bit too much talk about God and a creator for my taste, although she says upfront that it's more about spirituality than religion. Whatever. I'm trying to go into this open minded and will try hard to get through the whole course.

Has anyone out there read this? If so, what did you think? Did it help you? (2/2)

@mlanger tried it literally decades ago. I will say - the five or six weeks I did were the most creative output I’d had in my life to that point. Then we hit a week that was personal history stuff with which I was not ready to deal. I’ve done morning pages off and on for years. I believe it to be a good program. But must again confess - I did not complete it.

@macosken She says at the beginning of the book that it might be painful and I didn't know what she was referring to, but now I have an idea. I think I can deal with the personal history stuff now, although it might've been difficult 10 years ago.

It sounds a bit like therapy.

I'm worried that I won't complete it, which makes me even more determined to do it.
