When a politician proposes military action, it goes to a referendum. If they lose the vote, they're barred from all public office for life and sent to prison (they are clearly a danger and should be given ample time to reflect on that).
@distinctdipole Same sentiment yes. i fear that a referendum will not yield desireable results. Look at Germany WW1 and WW2. You could steer public opinion quite easily back then and even easier today.
@psycodepath Good point. Overlooked that. I was hoping the threat of even failing would be enough to stop any politician even trying.
