A little sun faded, but still here!!!

@mrmacintosh Have they fixed this sign yet? (For comparison, here is the original next to a proposal for a fixed version.)
@_the_cloud oh I have to check back before I leave. I also wanted to look at the old icon garden.
@mrmacintosh All about "attention to detail," yet nobody has fixed the bad pixel in that sign in over 30 years.
@_the_cloud @mrmacintosh I remember sneaking into the construction for that late one night and writing my name on the inside of some wall.
@alexr @mrmacintosh Speaking of lore and name writing, these names from the Blue Meanies era when System 7 was under development are probably still there, etched in the sidewalk cement between DA6 and BA3. Darin could be Darin Adler (EDIT: Darin Acquistapace, actually) and Scott K is likely Scott Knaster. I don't know who MF or BF were.

@_the_cloud @alexr

De Anza 6? I should check!

@mrmacintosh @alexr It was somewhere in between De Anza 6 and Bandley 3 if I remember correctly, on a sidewalk next to a curb. It might be in the parking lot area between the two buildings. It was *not* directly adjacent to the street on either De Anza or Bandley.
@mrmacintosh @alexr @scottknaster Hey Scott, was this you? Do you recall the story behind what happened here on 11-20-90?
@mrmacintosh @alexr @scottknaster Awesome! It's still there after 36 years. The building you can see there is Bandley 3 (rear entrance). Yes, the same building where the pirate flag was famously flown from the roof. A whole lot of Mac history here.
@_the_cloud @mrmacintosh @alexr IIRC, whatever team I was on was expanding from Bandley 3 to De Anza 6, which share a parking lot. To connect the two parts of the team, the curb between them was demolished and a new lowered curb installed. (You can just make out the slope on the right there.) Some of us were in the area when the new curb was being poured and we engaged in a little creative vandalism. Because I live in the past (also the present and the future), I like to drop by from time to time and enjoy the fact that it's still there. Fun fact: it's not (now Apple VP) Darin Adler. It's Darin Acquistapace. For real. Unfortunately I don't remember who the others are.
@scottknaster @mrmacintosh @alexr Very cool! Thanks for filling in that part of the story and correcting my bad memory (how many Darin A.’s could there possibly be at that location? The answer will surprise you!)
@_the_cloud @mrmacintosh @alexr It's entirely reasonable to have assumed that was Darin Adler (although it wasn't).
