First they came for the billionaires and I said nothing because I am not a billionaire
Then they came for the millionaires and I said nothing because I'm not a millionaire. Then everything was cool and they stopped coming for people
@brad YES!!!
@tompearce49 @brad "Millionaires" includes a large chunk of southern England, if you include people who've paid off their mortgage and have pension savings from a normal professional job.
@TimWardCam people who own >£1M in housing are part of the labour aristocracy (and maybe needed some inherited advantage, depending on when they got on tHe PrOpErTy LaDdEr). Redistributing wealth away from the labour aristocracy is way less of a priority for me than redistributing ownership of businesses, but i don't personally see private home ownership as a revolutionary goal - let alone constant inflation-beating house price rises acting as a national wealth concentrator.
@TimWardCam @tompearce49 @brad build houses until they're not millionaires anymore.
@brad
My name is Guillotine Jones and I approve of this message..
@brad And now I've got an ABC classic stuck in my head. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=re9Uon4fNNw

@brad You said nothing?

Not even a whispered, "Where do I sign up?"

@solitha I was busy washing my hair

@brad

I guess that's what they thought in Russia 1917/1918 too.

@DerAsket @brad Right up to the War of Intervention?
@DerAsket @brad The trick is to come for the money, not the head. Illionaires can even save themselves by donation!
@andygates @DerAsket @brad, … just so long as it's not to the likes of Refash or the frog-faced one.
@lp0_on_fire @DerAsket @brad Take away their money and they gibber into the void.
@brad The French Revolution called to point out that it just ain't so... They kept on coming for the likes of me 'n' thee.
@brad honestly I don't mind a millionaire, it's when people get over the 10mn mark that things get problematic...

@jmaris @brad

Depends on in which country you live... The amount of social security guaranteed and available comes in there.

@jmaris @brad $1 richer than me would be a great place to stop coming for people.
@brad
You're honestly a genius and I think with historical perspective Martin Niemöller would give you a hug.
@ideogram @brad That dude was a Nazi. As has been pointed out, they never stop coming for someone. That’s the point of his poem, but never forget who he was before they came for him, a loyal Nazi.

@brad

Then they came for my neighbour and gave him a place to live and I rejoiced bc he had had none.
Then they came for the toddlers and gave them food and I rejoiced bc some of them were hungry.
Then they came for the young people and gave them free education and I rejoiced bc their futures matter.
Then they came for the old and the infirm and gave them free health care and I rejoiced.
Then they came for me in a dark moment and told me I matter too, and I believed them.

@DavidM_yeg @brad what mad socialism is this 😂
@DavidM_yeg @brad We are waiting for a miracle to come and save us too, or at least to save my poor mother who is suffering so much🥺💔
@brad I don't know where you're from but, fun fact, in France (where I live) "they" will come for one in twenty people.
And by the way, if you eliminate enough people and redistribute wealth, everyone will be a millionnaire in the end.
That said, I understand your point and agree with you on the need for a better wealth sharing.

@brad

first, we got rid of the aristocracy
then, we celebrated, because the hard part is over and now we can actually get to work and solve problems

@brad

policy problems are easier to handle than class war problems
