@EC_DIGIT so... by Open Source AI you mean this: https://opensource.org/ai ?

@EC_DIGIT You might want to give some definition for "open source AI", since it's pretty hard to see such a thing existing in the first place with the classic definition.

Otherwise this seems just marketing slapping a word that EC does not understand to a concept it wants to promote.

@ananas @EC_DIGIT I beg do disagree. Have you come across the Model Openness Framework? Particularly, check out https://isitopen.ai/

Open source is a defined term, and the definition is mostly specified by the Open Source Iniative and Free Software Foundation.

For hardware we have OSHWA that does the same https://oshwa.org/resources/open-source-hardware-definition/

There is absolutely no such definition for "open source AI". That term can mean pretty much anything. And as such, I see it as complete marketing BS that tries to appropriate the work of the volunteers that have spent countless of hours on open source and thus building up the good name this stuff, I fear, is now going to tarnish.

The page you linked does nothing to even try to address the issue. It's not really even related to the issue. It doesn't really even claim to do that.

Are you familiar with the European Open-Source AI index (https://osai-index.eu) and their definition? Seems super relevant for your workshop. The project is led by @dingemansemark and @andreasliesenfeld.
