small details in my mastodon client that i wanted more people to notice

grahh i forgot the part where the "load more" on thread ancestors (which only really exists to prevent stuttering when rendering long threads from my skill issue) is exponential so you don't have to click it as much to get the entire thread, or the fact the CW button gets a little padding and rounds the corners on replies because being full-width on the post is not enough alongside the reply tree indicators
and how the virtual scroller for a post gets inhibited when you're playing media so it does not unmount and stop/reset the media when you scroll off-screen
@kopper
and is what wafrn and this misskey plugin do...do we? that would be new to me
@alexia i thought it did at some point?
@kopper no! I merely suggested doing that + some kind of blurhash or other way of differentiating between them, but we never implemented it to my knowledge
@alexia i must have developed some false memory of seeing something like that
@kopper but I'm using pi-hole ad blocking :( why is kitty sad :((

(i yearn for a good android browser with proper extension support)
@inderix oh my god it's the svg bug again what the hell is wrong with yalls's browsers that should not be a white square. are you using any dark more hacks or anything
@inderix WAIT WHAT ITS HAPPENING ON ALL DARK MODE FML
@kopper this is bone stock chrome on Android
@kopper look ma I made it onto a kopper blogpost

very neat!
@ielenia @kopper I also made it by proxy of thermia replying to my request for a full length music track lol
@kopper i wholeheartedly agree with the "no display names" feature.

@kopper ... huh this client might be good enough for me to switch to

the one thing i would miss from masto-fe is the multi column view but i do not expect any client not built from the ground up to implement this but even despite that i still like this a lot

@niko yeah multi column view is a bit difficult since you both have to effectively throw away the built-in router of the framework and have to narrow down the width of posts
@kopper what the fuck im in there
@kopper awesome blog post.
also reminds me to actually really now™ implement real tag parsing for that plugin and not just text replacement
@kopper  hoyl hec vulpinum mention i need to actually work on it
@kopper Finally a display of the reply relationships between posts I actually understand?
@kopper oh this is quite nice. i might find myself using this tbh
@kopper also cant you do horizontal scrolling with mice just by holding shift as you scroll? im unsure the horizontal scrolling js hack totally needs to be there
@coolbean you can also do it by dragging the scroll bar along but nobody wants to do that
@kopper i guess

ill probably just hold shift i think
@kopper comes to me quite naturally from zooming in way too far with digital illustration programs
