Cities Are Covering Flock Cameras With Trash Bags

Regretful cities aren't sure how to cancel their surveillance contracts, so they are literally covering their cameras.

404 Media
Every city commissioner in Dayton, Ohio wants the cameras removed. The police say they have been deactivated. But they literally aren't sure if they're still recording or not. This follows scandal in which police say they were *accidentally* sharing data w/ ICE. So they bag them as stop-gap measure
This is extremely notable and shows who really owns and controls this surveillance infrastructure. Flock says "We're proud to work with the city of Dayton, OH and hope we can continue."
Last year, Evanston, Illinois terminated its Flock contract and removed the cameras. Flock *put them back up* and reactivated them. Then Evanston put trash bags around them. Flock says: "legal conditions may prevent a city from voiding the contract without grounds to do so"

Feels like a second agreement issue

There will be a reckoning for every company or person that collaborates with the Trump administration on inhumane behaviour, including their treatment of non-violent immigrants.

Flock is just an example of the wave that is growing.

Europe liberating itself from US dependencies in IT (Microsoft, Amazon) is another.

Just like ICE-agents losing friends and future job opportunities.
