I suspect it's capitalism that makes people think that growth automatically means commercial hype.

Capitalism is an extraction system.
Natural growth means the whole community ecosystem flourishes.

Commercial hype is just selling something.
Meaningful interconnections is something else entirely.

I protest the belief that capitalist overtake is inevitable, so we should just resign ourselves to the new norm and accept the narrative that abuse and exploitation is actually "good for us"
They're still trotting that chestnut out every chance they get.

Personally, I'd go find a more satisfying and sustainable outlet and invest my time in community growth. If it was up to me.
