Being blind helps sometimes. seems I upset my manager thrice today, that's 3 times for folks who aren't in the know. The thing is, I am outspoken. This won't come as a surprise on here, but here we are. Every time I somehow upset him, I got a Teams text from a colleague telling me as much. It's not like I go out of my way to upset him. I jjust ask questions. These questions are valid and honest questions that I have. If it upsets you, someone needs to suck it up buttercup. And hear I thought we weren't in high school anymore?
@mcourcel People can be ever so weird. #Oy
@mcourcel Is your manager a grown ass adult or are they a child. If they are upset by your behavior, then they need to put on their big kid pants and talk to you like a grown ass adult. This is why they get paid the big bucks to be the manager because sometimes conversations are uncomfortable and they suck. I'm sorry that you work with someone who can't seem to figure this shit out.
@pawpower Well, I currently have ins on all of the background shinannagins, so I find it very entertaining. Things will work themselves out, just have to do the waiting game.
@mcourcel Oh good i hope they settle out with minimal drama.
@pawpower @mcourcel There are some really childish people in management. I've worked with them, which is why I'm not playing the game to climb the management ladder anymore. It's just a big game of king of the hill, and who can knock everybody else down so that they can be empower. It's bullshit.
@lynessence @mcourcel Yes this! I run my own business which is the closest I ever want to come to management. I mean I run it with colleagues but I trust them and they are civilized and reasonable people and we present a united front But I could never be the traditional manager in a regular business because I don't have the communication skills. I m too conflict avoidant. Mostly because it requires language and i already do too much of that. lol.
@mcourcel I found managers/supervisors who are insecure to be easily upset. The ones who are comfortable in their own skin and not dictatorial usually are easygoing and good listeners. If they're upset by valid questions, in my view, that just shows they're in the former category.
@ReadingTheDots Yup. I've dealt with his kin before. So paranoid that they might do something wrong that they react to everything that might be threatening. It sucks to live life that way, but whatever. I'm certainly not choosing that path.
@mcourcel Yes, and it makes it difficult for anyone working under them. That's one thing I kept in mind when I had supervisory roles. I did my utmost to treat people fairly. I'm sure I wasn't always successful and made mistakes, but I always made an effort.
@ReadingTheDots @mcourcel Me and you both. And yet I still got displaced by the person who liked to gossip and play childish games with people. So unfortunate.
@lynessence @mcourcel I'm sure that happens a lot also. Unfortunate!
@mcourcel Welcome to a typical work day.
