A few months ago, I posted this comic about the new Canadian policy that allows citizenship by descent. It went viral, and then gradually, I started to get dozens of messages like this trickling in : people are getting new citizenships. People are moving countries and changing their lives.
I've been feeling pretty down lately, which is the reason I haven't been posting much. Purposeless, aimless. Tired and broke. But this kind of thing reminds me how much impact one person with a pen can have. Thank you for letting me be a part of the journey.

I would have moved to Vancouver years ago if my spouse weren't happy here in San Francisco. No known relatives in Canada unfortunately.

I hope to get back to posting regularly very soon. Until then, if you wish to support my work, you can get me a beverage on www.ko-fi.com/sophielabelle <3
Many have commented on the last sentence. it's a reference to the end of "À la Claire Fontaine", which acted as our natl anthem for many centuries : "Il y a longtemps que je t'aime, jamais je ne t'oublierai." After it was engraved on our parliament, it also became Quebec's motto, "Je me souviens".
@assignedmale.bsky.social it is really wild to me that they have opened up citizenship as far back as someone has documentation for (not that I am complaining)

@assignedmale.bsky.social

This is wild. You can apply and get citizen within months? Damn, Canadians are efficient.
