Many online shoppers who order from independent small retailers have no idea who ships their goods

trldr:

* AMZN consolidating oligarchy, grip on goods/services e.g.

* delivering products ordered by folx trying to avoid AMZN

* here in Canada consumers can return AMZN orders to Staples, who do everything else: repackage, label, send

You’ve been trying to get around Amazon – but it’s not that easy

For shoppers tying to avoid Amazon, its expansion into shipping and logistics for thousands of companies makes that choice more difficult.

I wish the politicians would force online sellers to give us a choice at checkout which company delivers the package. I would choose Canada Post every time. These small courier companies are a pain in the butt. Terrible customer service; can't contact them to clue them in; no central place to divert the package because the driver can't figure out they can't deliver to a business at 9:30 at night. This last delivery took them 8 days to figure out they had to deliver between 9am and 5pm

I advocate nationalizing any essential service, conglomerate, trusts, private/corporate wealth sink - seizing those assets and criminalizing wealth hoarding.

No private { person / company / corporation / entity } should be allowed to accumulate, sit on, leverage egregious levels of wealth.

I read this week our venerable Canada Post is in the hole $200M so far this year. Their man sorting depot in Vancouver (YVR) sits next to Purolator. They cannot compete with AMZN ...

You do have a choice: Don't buy where they use shitty delivery.

A Hermes guy once painted our doorbell cause he was angry. I complained to Hermes and I'm boycotting them now. If a company uses Hermes, bad luck, I'm buying at the competition.

And let me tell you, there is competition and even cancelling your Amazon works (I did). There are tons of shops out there. You just need to search.

@morqendi @persagen Yeah, I've been changing. None of them tell me what delivery service they use so it's first buy then find out. I really don't appreciate this whole approach. I buy what I can locally but there's quite a bit of stuff I can't find around town.
