A road got washed out a few weeks ago. They had it closed for about 10 days while they trucked in fill. Since then, they have been trucking in gravel at a rate of at least 50 truckloads a day, from 6am to 9pm or even later.

I don't think the #ALTO proponents have any idea what they are dealing with. Maintenance of the original rail lines were cost prohibitive back when they pulled up the tracks. This is going to be 'spensive.

And I hear a lot of complaints about healthcare and affordable housing. What about clean water for First Nations?

These are the choices that Canadians make that bankrupt the things we need.

#ALTO has now started a public support campaign in Ottawa, which is fine, everyone has a right to an opinion, but I want every supporter to know that they will be personally responsible when there is no long term care, when there is American style (not) healthcare, etc... for their love of shiny things.

The same people profiting from this train are not the people in the cities, they will be paying for this for at least 50 years before it is projected to be profitable and that is just based on the build cost, not the 50 years of maintenance and rebuilds from catastrophic failures, which, given that there's been no engineering details released, is a probable in the risk analysis.

The taxpayers are left holding the bag, but what really bites is the profit takers pay very little of those taxes.
