Anyone have an omg.lol account? Do you like it? Do you use the email?

(side question: would having an address there count for de-googling? how do you rate their long-term stability since they say you can buy a 10 year membership?)

I think the only person I know might be @hollie on an alt?

@SRLevine another suggestion is to buy your own domain and set it up in Fastmail. I have been using Fastmail for a while and really like it.
@skinnylatte That was mostly idle curiosity, I am not willing to deal with having my own domain (I dislike auto payments and would have to renew it manually every year and that would be stressful).
@SRLevine you can also use Fastmail without a domain. Just with their Fastmail.com domains. Good luck!
@SRLevine @skinnylatte I figured out that a regular upfront payment for a VPS running my mail plus multi year domain name contracts reduced my stress levels considerably….

@SRLevine I love my omg.lol account! It comes with so many (and ever-expanding) features for staking claim to your own little corner of the internet. There's a great community associated with it, and I have full confidence that the services will continue for years to come.

I don't use the email address a ton, but I like having it for certain uses (especially for communicating with other omglolers). And it's cool that you can integrate it with Fastmail for sending outbound mail as well.

@hollie

@SRLevine I have an alt there, yeah, but I don't use it much. I find myself uncomfortable with an entity that seems totally controlled by a single person, even when that person is really cool. It's likely that he's set up a team to deal with things and I should probably ask about that so I feel more confident using it, as I did pay for like 8 years back when it was cheap.

For de-Googling, do you mean de-Gmailing specifically? I've used Fastmail as my de-Gmail company for over a decade now and they've been great. There's the bonus with that where you also get free access to lots of other alts too, if you want them.

Social.lol has an email, but you have to use another app to access it I think. As in, it forwards, you can't send directly from omg.lol. Here's the info about that:

@SRLevine @hollie I had one for a while but didn’t really get into it.
