Last year at @hopeconf I brought the #PirateBox concept back from the brink and talked about how the sharing of information and knowledge with them is super important, as sharing off-grid (ya know, Sneakernet!) will become pivotal in this day and age.

With what's going on with #Wikipedia, it's important that we have Pirate Boxes and offline copies of Wikipedia on hand.

And as the Internet continues to fall to #enshittification, I'm turning up the juice to talk about taking it back.

@lambdacalculus i've been thinking about something like @TheSlugNoodle 's Project Bookmark, but I don't have the same hardware. i do have a cardputer though, which is basically an ESP32 S3 chip with a bunch of crap bolted on to it. it's got wifi and a battery, so maybe i can port it or at least figure out something similar to carry wikipedia, etc. around with me in my pocket
@beaiouns @TheSlugNoodle It's very possible to do and some friends of ours have taken the code to port around to other ESP32 devices. Hell, I'd carry my Cardputer around as a Projekt B00KM4RK device once a port is ready!
