I was just looking at #NextDNS 🤔

What is people's experience with it?
I was thinking about setting it up for a phone that will be in children's hands to keep them protected from bad shit on the web.

The free tier allows 300,000 queries per month... which should be MORE than enough for a kid with limited screentime 🤔

privacy-wise, they seem to be base in France, log retention can be disabled, the account can be set up anonymously 🤔

Anyone using NextDNS? thoughts? other solutions? (other solutions should please NOT contain the mother of the kid selfhosting pihole with wireguard lmao)

NextDNS

The new firewall for the modern Internet

NextDNS
@realestninja we're a family of 4 internet users here and the pilhole here's logging roughly 1,300 requests per day.

@realestninja I've used NextDNS for the last couple of years, but not for the same use case (mainly for malware/ad blocking). In my case I like it because EU based and I can run it on/via OpenWRT.

No complaints, but I have noticed that people moan about a lack of support/development on their forums.

Other similar services I'm aware of:
Adguard
CleanBrowsing
ControlD
DNS4EU
Quad9

If NextDNS doesn't fit for you, maybe one of those does. Good luck.

@realestninja NextDNS is great. Using it for myself and some other people I've set it up for. Rarely do I get notified I'm nearing the free monthly limit, and I practically live online. Easy to manage and setup in Android.
