Svetlana Suveica (#LeibnizIOS) initiated the issue and contributed a text on the history of the 🇺🇦-🇲🇩 relations from the 19th century onwards, focusing on cross-border mobility.

This issue of the MDAD covers relations between Moldova and its neighbour Ukraine from various perspectives. The first text by Svetlana Suveica covers the history of these relations from the 19th century onwards. Anastasia Pociumban follows up with a text on the impact of Russia’s war on these relations. In the third contribution, Sabine von Löwis and Yulia Abibok zoom in on the current situation around the border between Ukraine and Transnistria. Finally, statistics on trade and refugees are presented. The issue was put together based on ideas of editorial board member Svetlana Suveica.
