This talk discusses the historical and contemporary uses of plant species that are native to North Carolina & the surrounding regions, including their uses as medicine and food, focusing on species that are of interest for home gardens.

We will also discuss the historically significant role that North Carolina played in the early botanical drug industry, from the wild harvest to the distribution of native medicinal plant products and other useful plant products throughout much of the country.
