Joe ChilliamsI'm curious how folks calculate the tip on a restaurant bill. Here's the short hand I use, let's say the bill is $50. I double the first digit, so $10 which gets me a 20% tip. Anyone else do it this way?

@edmonds no, well in that case I'd use the first two digits rather than the first digit.
