Cooling system at chemical tanks likely failed, forcing mass O.C. evacuations, fire officials say

***wonder what the heck would happen for a long term power outage in LA's various industrial areas... i.e. where backup power systems went offline, etc. etc. and all these kinds of cooling systems everywhere fail. i.e. major earthquake, heatwave, etc. 🤔
@ai6yr I assumed places like this had large backup generators for that reason? But the bigger issue might if they are driven by running water (rather than static) and if water mains break, because unless you have a system that can switch to a closed internal loop that's going to fail really fast.
@SRLevine @ai6yr they have ginormous supplies of liquid nitrogen and liquid CO2 to quench things and shut down reactions -- sometimes
@ai6yr So, I presume thats staff having to live in motorhomes on site due to not being paid properly?
@RueNahcMohr LOL it's a motor home storage facility next door
@ai6yr good! so, I wonder how far the temp went before an alarm went off.
