‘BusPatrol’ Put AI Cameras in Tens of Thousands of School Buses. Now They Want to Give Cops Access

BusPatrol plans to scan the license plates of all vehicles the buses drive past, and then let law enforcement search that data. The plan would essentially turn school buses into roaming surveillance vehicles.

@alice This bill was introduced in NH recently. We already have cameras on the busses & the bill was to put another one on the little stop sign that pops out when they stop. I was confused about why they would need two, but I guess this is why. They want to add this crap.

I haven’t checked on it to see if it died but if it passed they were planning to have the data deleted after 3 days like the flock cameras here. They don’t want people doing FOI requests for folks they’re trying to stalk and they think 3 days leaves it accessible to law enforcement if necessary but would prevent accessibility to the public.

Regardless, EW

Hmm, deliberately setting things up so it's accessible to law enforcement but not to the public via FOI is telling
