I actually studied modelism for a year. That’s how I learnt it. The other option is to take a garment you like and that fits well and „copy“ the pattern from that.

It is. But the industry was so appalling at the time that I switched with a heavy heart. But it’s a really handy life skill :).

I once made a party dress without a pattern, so I ticked yes for that. I sort of shaped the fabric around me and marked where to stitch, and then stitched, and then put it on and marked it again and stitched it again. And then I drew a pattern of shapes onto the fabric with iron-on crayon. It wasn't something I would've worn to go to the shops in :-)

I think one of my later dresses was partly based on the shape of that one, but I did make a pattern on paper first that time.
