This https://www.blog.brittanijamesmd.com/p/long-covid-changed-everything is an excellent overview of the current state of Long COVID knowledge.
Nothing surprising to anyone who's kept abreast of the science, but does an excellent job of summarizing
- the breadth and severity of impacts
- the medical system's inadequate response
- especially because LC is hard to be "visualized, quantified, or objectively measured", severe symptoms returning "normal labs, unremarkable imaging"
- muddy pathophysiology
and what might be the biggest hurdle to living with LC:
the absence of proof was often treated as evidence that the suffering itself might not be legitimate
(There's a few hints that the writing might have been LLM-assisted, but I noticed no factual errors. It might just be humans adopting LLM writing mannerisms, or it might have been "punched up" but properly reviewed by a human.)
