Hey #California voters, this is a reminder DO NOT MAIL YOUR BALLOT via USPS! Please deliver your ballot in-person to a polling place or secure drop box. Find verified drop boxes on your county elections website.

(This is because USPS has changed its policy and no longer “guarantees” that your ballot will be postmarked with the actual mailing date, thereby potentially disqualifying your vote. Not to mention that if you drop-off in-person, your vote will be counted faster and we can wrap up this horrible process quicker!) 😅

@scott also, don't panic if you already mailed it. odds are very high if you dropped off today, or earlier, it will be postmaster before next tuesday

@scott USPS did not change anything. They only clarified what's already been true for some time, and has in fact been going on for over a decade now.

It has to do with postmarks, which validate that mail was received and validated for mailing by a sorting and distribution facility. Traditionally, that was done locally, but it's increasingly done at centralized facilities. That can delay the DATE of a postmark. Again, this is not new, and is no one's 'fault'.

This advice is still sound, though.
