It used to be that on hot days the government would close everything down and you would be told to pair off and lie on the grass somewhere and do some fingering. Not any more though, thanks to EU red tape. They promised Brexit would Bring Back Fingering, but Iā€™m not seeing any evidence of that, myself.

@Extra_Special_Carbon @Nickiquote when you are playing on the flute you cover the holes in sequence, those the fingerings. Usually with precision you are able to cover the holes quite rapidly with your fingers, usually wetting your whistle a little while you blow. A little bit of fluid will drip out of the end. On larger instruments there is often a little nib on the end that you need to press to allow the fluid out
