EHRC’s new chair in Scotland linked to anti-abortion dark money groups

Human rights watchdog appoints barrister Alasdair Henderson, despite links to groups opposing women’s and LGBTQ+ rights (former director of the Lawyers' Christian Fellowship, partnered with Alliance Defending Freedom—a homophobic/transphobic US christian dominionist pressure group)

@cstross You have to marvel at just how compromised our entire government actually is and how quickly it has happened.

@26aafa19 This is the Parliamentary Labour Party doubling down on culture wars policies that got fired up by the Tories in 2017 because the Blue Labour assholes want to turn Labour into a right wing institutional hegemon. Yet another sign of how British politics has been sold down the river to the American christian right by successive governments.

It's the same money that's pushing Project 2025 in DC.

@cstross There was also TINA for left-wing voters but the Green party has broken that. I am still amazed that Labour still hasn't realised this to the full extent.
@cstross
One would also query why a Barrister for the Scottish chair, when there are some excellent Advocates specialising in Human Rights.
@HighlandLawyer I suspect his appointment is more to do with his politics than his speciality. (Which is a really bad look for the EHRC.)
