Doing a soft launch of a "no borders" geography quiz where you have to identify countries based on land, water, and rivers rather than borders. Also it's a generic globe as well. You can save the .html file and it works offline forever. https://inventwithpython.com/no-borders-geography.html
No Borders Geography Quiz

Interactive borderless globe quiz. Spin, zoom, and identify countries, US states, and 40+ subdivisions worldwide.

@AlSweigart This is such a cool project. I'm weak on geography, I've always felt bad about that, and this makes me want to keep playing.

I think I found a bug though. The first few countries, it makes me keep guessing until I get it right before moving on to a new country. But then it starts just giving me a new country every time I click. (Is it vibe coded? 😂 )

@ehmatthes This is entirely vibe coded, aside from poking around the source and making minor adjustments by hand. I've had to QA this a lot (and I still need to update a few things, and the "quiz" intentionally doesn't keep score but I still want to edit the UI a bit).

Though it should make you guess a new country whether you got the previous one right or wrong. Maybe I should add a "Let me try again" button?

@AlSweigart Maybe I didn't quite understand. It said to click on Germany, and I clicked on something else. I kept trying for Germany until I got it. I didn't notice it was telling me to click on something else.

I think you should have to click on the correct country before moving on. That's more satisfying, and better for learning I believe.

@ehmatthes @AlSweigart agreed. Another idea: hypsometric tiling of the globe. I used Natural Earth data for this for https://Whereabouts.Earth/daily (more on the sources I've found helpful in https://whereabouts.earth/colophon/)
Whereabouts Daily

How many of today's five countries can you guess?

Whereabouts

@treyhunner @AlSweigart I like having to spin the globe. There are a few things you pick up from it that you don't on a flat map: how big the pacific really is, and which hemisphere of the globe a country is in.

Not northern/southern, just generally "Do I even know which half of the planet this country is on?!"

@ehmatthes @AlSweigart I was including still having a globe but also showing mountains and such. A bit little https://globle-game.com/game
Globle

Use your geography knowledge to figure out the mystery country in as few guesses as possible!

Globle
@treyhunner @ehmatthes Heheh, the zoom feature is quite something:
@AlSweigart @ehmatthes yeah... I wasn't holding up Globle as a *great* example 😬 ... their mobile experience is also not great. But mountains!
@AlSweigart pretty neat! On mobile it would be much easier to be able to zoom with a gesture, and maybe some kind of difficulty slider (with bigger or more populous countries easier) would be nice. Nevertheless, very enjoyable:D
