I've suggested guillotine as a solution to various problems in the past, and facetiously replied to many an argument with a link to the Wikipedia page for the guillotine.

But this article. This stopped me. Made me think. Hex is right. If you can use a guillotine, you've already won, and are just enacting violence.

@quixoticgeek The thing is, revolutions can only be lost by the left. And this is true even in peaceful or bloodless revolutions.

You can't seize state power without seizing state violence at the same time, and thus becoming trapped in the logic of the state.

People simply do not meditate on what it truly means for a state to have a monopoly on violence, and why statelessness always ends up with some sort of authoritarian group establishing a monopoly on violence and a proto-state.

This is why I've always been anti-revolution, even though I see one as inevitable at this point.
