I regularly snarl at all the BigTechs notably including Google, but I gotta say the Android phone app is absolutely brilliant at letting me know which incoming calls are likely spam/scam, and offering call screening for the rest. Strong work.

@timbray spam calls are competition to Google, in a sense.

@timbray Google is honestly good at catching incoming spam.

Gpr example, gmail is almost as good as spamcop.net The gotcha is that gmail doesn't even _try_ to filter outgoing spam, just like everyone else. Spammers love gmail, gmail loves their money (:-))

@timbray The identification is probably more attributable to your carrier than it is to the phone/software maker.
@timbray iOS is better at it now, but Google is still the best (I have them both). Also, after investigation, I know that "DJ Scam Likely" is untaken, but there are events called "Scam Likely".
@timbray it's the #1 reason I remain loyal to my Pixel phone. Most important feature in a phone: not accepting phone calls.
@nelson @timbray with the most recent OS, my iphone now auto-screens most calls for me. works great.
