@michimcuvieu hi there! This looks interesting. Unfortunately yo no hablo español.

So this is a Monument for a militant group that fought fascism? Can you explain your post in English? And why does it have these colors?

@zyklop it is a monument commemorating the battle of El Mazucu, one of the last republican defence positions of the North-Western front of the Spanish Civil War. The fascist outnumbered the republicans and had the support of the Nazi aviation, but they ressisted for several days.

The colours represent the Spanish Republic flag, which had begun in 1931 and lasted until the end of the Civil War (1939).

There's also the letters "UHP", which are used as the initials of "Uníos Hermanos Prolerarios" (Proletarian Brothers Unite). They symbolize the union between socialists, anarchists and communists for the October Revolution of 1934 and later the Civil War.

@zyklop and the poem, by Miguel Hernández, says something like this:

Although the autumn of history
Might cover your graves
With the apparent dust of oblivion,
We'll never renounce
To ever the oldest of our dreams

@michimcuvieu ❤️ thanks a lot!

I feel like there is an important chapter of history I need to teach myself more about. Was not thought much in school although we learned all kinds of things about nazi germany.
