John PoolePeony 'Krinkled white', 50+ plants. We has 12 of these in Napa, CA, and the black bees swarmed them. When we moved to Salem, OR, I planted 60... but no black bees, just a few stragglers.
Timing is everything... it's too cool for the black bees when peonies bloom; however, later in the summer when agastache 'Desert Sunrise' bloom... they, again, swarm (in the 100s) in delight, I have them in the parkway and passer-bys are amazed and reassured.
