Diaspora*? I haven't heard that name in years.
Diaspora*? I haven't heard that name in years.
Diaspora is still active. Quietly carrying on whilst the rest of the Fedi is not looking...
I know. I have spent a lot of time on Diaspora* over the years. And when I discovered Mastodon and the Fediverse, I slowly forgot about Diaspora*.
And Alice's post just reminded me that I had not taken a lot at Diaspora* in a very long while.
It might be the first free as in freedom network that I had discovered. It was a whole new universe.
A number of pods have closed this last couple of years, but a hard core still remains. If you are thinking of reappearing over there and want suggestions for pods, let me know.
I just went back to Diaspora*, I last posted something there 10 months ago.
On my pod, there are 65,800 users but only 430 monthly active users, which is a little sad.

I discovered Diaspora* through the french organization #Framasoft and their ambitious and candid Dégooglisons Internet campaign (Let's unGoogle the Internet).
I've just added you as a contact on my Glass Wings account. Used to be with Diaspora Europe, but that closed in the last year or so. Can't remember how I first heard of Diaspora, it is so long ago...
I've a back up account on Diaspora (diasporasocial.net) and a Friendica account with Libranet â that last should be visible from both ends, so to speak.
Ungoogling is good...
