- I'm really pleased we stayed on schedule, and were even *ahead* of time. i fuckin knew it was possible! (and kinda easy if you actually try) so now i'm actually allowed to be annoyed when my sets get squished short and/or pushed later at almost every other event. this was with almost zero sound checks too lol. we were [just] brutal about saying we would cut people off at the end of their slot. we didn't have to do that to anyone

- i panickedly setup the stream by logging into my Google account and using OBS's auto integration instead of fucking around with stream keys. i hope no one steals all my shit

- i was juggling quite a few things at the start, getting all the projectors on and tested and backup plans made with lots of backup cables (which we ended up using!!!) but i do way less than Daniel still haha

- i literally messaged ziraflo on the day and a few hours later she was there! legend! and nadya appeared in front of me zero minutes before the set and then whacked out this totally insanely amazing sounding trance stutter vocal. completely mind-blown

- i LOVE LOVE LOVE how punky our set sounded. the airhorn super distorted sounded like a shredded electric guitar. and ziraflo's vocals were super powerful in a shouting but somehow controlled way.
- i LOVE that we were gathered round the table together, not behind it. i loved it at Linz so wanted to do it here too. i think this is my trademark now. i want to be in the crowd i want to dance
- this event was kinda cursed in the build up. planning was all over the place. the international guests were worried. i kinda stepped up into bossy mode to get shit organised in time. pleased i can do that if needed. being an "organiser" feels mostly like stepping back and letting this happen on their own, but then moving in and course correcting if things go wrong
- i was super close to pulling out of the event a while back. it was giving me gross vibes and the ick. something about "THE AMERICAN STARS ARE COMING" got into people's brains and we lost a load of our values through it. fucking terrible posters with massive headliners and most artists omitted, fuck that! I'm pleased i did the awkward thing and called it out.
- massive culture clash between manufactured american pop brands and our community first approach. though it was nice to see my friends Jade and Jame!

- it sucks having to do the door on the door again. it's much better at AlgoRhythms where we bring the door inside. i hope no one got stuck there
- always love nadya's sets because i think her music is most similar to the stuff i listen to in my *real life*
a mistake i see too much is people trying to plan too much or tell each other what to do. something cool about drowning out someone else's sound, then giving em space, then taking it back... it's a dance / dialogue that you do inside the jam (let the jam do the talking)
- oh also, we FINALLY got to the point of people being *too much* in the way of the visuals projector. we did it!!!!!! π i want to bask in this achievement
- also with all the discussions about filming vs not filming at events... this one became the most filming heavy event of all time (affectionate), including the camera for @INFU's set that @hellojoey used to do π it was SO FUN to zoom in close on dancers to put em on the big screen and see them GO FOR IT at the opportunity
- something i loved was that @boggo's set's "ENERGY" samples.. and then in our set straight afterwards ziraflo was freestyling about "ENERGY"!!!
i wonder how many people realised we were doing it all from scratch π

Arne Brasseur@TodePond reminds me of pushing hands (partner exercises) in tai chi. You never correct the other person or tell them what to do. Focus on doing your own best work, be attentive of what the other person is doing and work with that, but don't ever give instructions (unless you're the teacher)
πππΆπππππ@TodePond I know this is funny coz it will sound like me telling you what to doβ¦ so take what I'm saying next with a grain of salt; I remember me and @uucidl jamming together had an almost-strict "no talking" rule, this is "the dance" as you say, eye contact is possible but you have to communicate musically with your peer(s) and creating a musical language that hint at your next steps. Your partner(s) must feel you.
@TodePond @uucidl also, as some folks need "safe words", there's a need for a "safe sound", communication through music patterns or gimmick, etcetc, vocabulary and grammar through sound (take your experience as a software engineer, how teams invent their own languages, same things happen in/with music)
