Yup. Very precisely observed. Adult friendships are precious and they can fade away, slowly and imperceptably. It hurts when we suddendly realise that one of them is no longer live.

Some old friendships survive long absences, and upon meeting the other person after decades of absence, we can pick things up as if we last met yesterday. But we mustn't rely on such reconnection. Sometimes it is too late.
