Man arrested after driving Tesla Cybertruck into Grapevine Lake to test 'Wade Mode' - Reddthat

Lemmy

The driver remains held in the Grapevine Jail on multiple charges, including operating a vehicle in a closed section of a park and having no valid boat registration.

I hate Musk and Cybertrucks as much as the next guy, but there was no reason to arrest the guy. A citation would be enough.

Maybe he was an absolute unapologetic, insufferable asshole to the pigs who responded to the call? (As you might expect a CyberTurd driver to be.) That could explain why they decided to throw the book at him.

The ‘no valid boat registration’ definitely sounds like a “What else can we possibly charge this asshole with?” kind of thing.

Though, now that I think about it, how do you properly register an amphibious vehicle? As a car, as a boat, or do you need to register the same vehicle twice in order to get both types of registration?

Great question! I would bet that very few states/countries, if any, have a radio button for amphibious vehicles. I’m sure it very rarely comes up.

Hey neat, the Amphicar forums have a thread on this topic! Makes sense. amphicar770.com/threads/boat-registration.3886/

They say that California has an amphibious registration option but that the other mentioned states just register it as a car.

Boat Registration | General Amphicar Discussion

Doug, I had the same problem here in South Carolina. I wanted to register my Amphi as a car and a boat so that I could get the cool boater registration decal and registration number displayed across my Amphi's bow. I had a nice conversation with several officials at the DNR office...

registering as both feels most sensible to me, because it has to meet the regulations for both things
Did it work? Lol.
