Went to see Brancusi’s exhibition in the Neue Nationalgalerie (Berlin). Highly recommend!
I love the over simplified representations, boiled down to simple solids and shapes. Postuments, often much more elaborate, less refined and polished, drawing from Romanian folk tradition were great counterweight to the shining sculptures. (1/2)
Presentation was a little disappointing – many sculptures were positioned far from the viewers with no way to walk around and see them from different angles.
In plus though: reconstruction of Brancusi’s workshop and collection of newspapers excerpts and documentation of early exhibitions! 👌🏼 (2/2)
