Tonight’s movie night movie will be, “Project Hail Mary (2026).” We read the book a long time ago and loved it and have been waiting to see the movie ever since. Excite! Excite! Excite!
Project Hail Mary was *awesome*. That was the shortest 2.5 hour movie I've ever seen. Way funnier than I expected, too. They skipped past a lot of the science-y stuff from the book that was likely cut for time and pacing, probably, since the book had *so* much more detail than they could fit into the movie, but the movie isn't hurt by it at all. It works. Gorgeous visuals, wonderful effects, perfect pacing. If you want to nerd out about the details, read the book and get the best of both worlds.
@bigzaphod me and my son (15yo) loved the movie so much we watched it twice in cinema 😅 I’ve read the book shortly before watching and think it’s one of the best adaptations made. Even Andy Weir (the author) was genuinely happy about some changes and especially ship design. One thing he and a lot of people missed was the Antarctica plot.
@mcskrzypczak I would have been happy with another 20-30 minutes more of the movie!
