Rosemary just growing all over a hillside here...

Right next to it, some thyme.

Who needs a herb shop!

There is also loads of an oregano like herb here and we have seen mint around, just growing all over.

Poppies!

And a daft Kat.

Mainly walked down the valley here to look more closely at this interesting geology the colour of dried blood.
A river deep below, tall trees.
Looking back up the valley towards the chateaux where we have been staying, via terrible phone camera zoom. Interesting highlight: notice the prickly pears in the near ridgeline.
Walking back to the chateaux

The other part of our walk was CactusQuest! 🌵

We got some "cuttings" of some cylindropuntia and opuntia for our friends here to try growing.

I'd take a couple of bits back to the UK but I suspect that is probably some kinda biocrime. ☣️

I don't feel particularly iffy about taking the cuttings as there is loads of the stuff growing down there, and they're not exactly natives!

(Whole bunch of photos of cactus in an arid looking area of red crumbly rock.)

Also seen on our walk was this scene which is a bit #mosstodon, but I think is actually mainly saxifrage, and also features a nice maidenhair fern.

Posting this video mainly as a sample of the typical standard of the local birdcall situation. 🐦

Though also an interesting/odd "lookout" looking down the valley on the hillside.

Our last bit of time here spent on some gardening, tomatoes from the market, basils from a supermarket pot, and roses from the rose nursery.
