A very charming 18th century Persian manuscript on the wonders of the natural world. We get lots of teaching requests for our Islamic manuscripts but relatively little in the collection is at all accessible if you don't read the language. #NewAcquisition

@overholt What a beautiful acquisition! The thumbnail illustrations are charming — that wolf has real personality.

Turkey holds one of the world's richest Islamic manuscript collections. Süleymaniye Library alone has over 70,000 manuscripts, Topkapı Palace Museum, Bayazıt Library and the newly opened Rami Library hold thousands more. A largely untapped resource for teaching and research.
