We appreciate Edwin Kremer’s thoughtful reflections on 'Integrated by Design" by Vivian Voss.

It’s encouraging to see the FreeBSD design philosophy articulated so clearly: coherence, predictability, least astonishment, and long-term stability.
For those curious about the architectural differences between FreeBSD and Linux and why they matter in practice, this book offers both philosophical context and hands-on exploration.

@FreeBSDFoundation I've heard a number of good things about the book so have added it to my reading list. Do wish people would stop saying that Darwin is derived from FreeBSD though... Yes, Darwin has some components ported from the three major BSDs but it's still a Mach kernel.
@FreeBSDFoundation I‘ve read the book and I like it. However, Apple‘s operating systems are not based on FreeBSD. This is just distracting fake news that somehow gets repeated a lot.
