It stuns me to this day.
It was also Chris Lattner/university of illinois fumbling things on their end too. It was NOT just a RMS issue on this.
Also I think GCC is much better off than LLVM really. The LLVM IR is turning into the worse version of GCC's RTL IR.
MLIR was added to workaround the issues folks are running into LLVM IR :). Which is kind of sad.
What is more interesting is how GCC stayed competitive with LLVM with less than 10th of the folks working on it.
Oh did I mention the LLVM community is not really a community of open source folks; it is just a community of folks who work on the same thing. Maybe that is finally changing after 20+ years.
