My Dog I am so tired of this dumb bubble, can it pop please and can we move to the new hype cycle that inevitably is going to be about "quantum" everything?

"Quantum Washing Machine" at least sounds kinda funny.

@rysiek quantum was years ago, stop trying to make quantum happen!
@wronglang we are in quantum winter but just you wait it will go to the moon! hfbp!
@rysiek I can't wait for all the quantum data centers!

@wronglang oh we already have them. For example, the ones Oracle was supposed to build with Blue Owl Capital:

@rysiek @wronglang When I was an undergrad back in the '90s, I remember a Physics prof saying, "Quantum computing has been ten yeas off for about 25 years now." I'm sure thqt won't stop today's crop of "AI" hucksters from pivoting to "quantum" tomorrow.
@d2718 @rysiek @wronglang One of the lessons in one of my CS degree AI classes was that AGI was "10 years away since the '50s". Notably all the big AI companies are no longer talking about AGI for the most part. Something about artificlal neural networks makes laypeople froth at the mouth about how it's "just like people" when it's just a black box hill climbing algorithm.

@edd @d2718 @wronglang and let's not forget that in the immortal words of the famous theologian and spiritual leader *checks notes* Marc Andreessen, "AGI is a search for God"

@rysiek @edd @d2718 ugh 😩 serious leak of creativity with these people

@wronglang @rysiek @edd

Okay, but to be fair (not that the facist egg deserves it), this isn't _that_ different from certain mainstream religions, at least in practice. But yeah, it's way lazy to have something you think is awesome but also don't understand and can't explain in any coherent way, and just slap the "god" label on it.

@d2718 @rysiek @edd yeah, that's what I was getting at with lazy, they just want to steal street cred from an older scam like a modern day latter day saints.

Next step is somebody making golden platters with encrypted messages from God only they can decrypt.
