Named "THE ONE, BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL," it also included a new tax on private university endowments, a new requirement aimed at preventing the US citizen children of undocumented immigrants from receiving the child tax credit, and a provision terminating tax-exempt status for groups the State Department says support "terrorists," which some warn could allow the Trump administration to punish groups it opposes.

The bipartisan Joint Committee on Taxation stated that tax breaks would reduce revenue by $4.9 trillion over the next ten years, without even factoring in the new tax breaks; the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office further estimated that the bill would cause 8.6 million people to lose their health care.
