Triple Cone by Shizuoka’s West Coast Brewing. Another New England-style hazy IPA, but with a tiny bit more punch than their Summer Breeze (7% ABV vs 6%). Not massively different in flavor, but I preferred this one.

@RobinMarx WCB are pretty consistent
@OlDirtyGaijin I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve had by them
@RobinMarx you don’t see them out much, but I’ve had some cracking stouts by them. All their hazy/NE are solid, better than most, but sometimes I want a beer that doesn’t taste all fruity.

@OlDirtyGaijin I love stouts first and foremost, so I’ll keep an eye out for theirs.

Big fan of hazy IPAs in second place, though, and I’m excited to see more breweries make them. Nice change of pace from the ultra bitter filtered IPAs that dominated the craft beer scene for several years.

@RobinMarx they tend to be at the very boozy end. Think the ones I’ve had have been 11%+
Definitely sippers that warm up well.
@RobinMarx look out for their GMT+9 series. They only come out in big honking bottles, perfect to share.

West Coast Brewing
@OlDirtyGaijin Seems like Shizuoka has a good beer scene in general. I’m a big fan of Baird Beer and visit their taprooms whenever I get the chance.
@RobinMarx lot of real micro brewers. Tiels does some “interesting” stuff. Shimoda Brewing, Garcia, Kuraya Narusawa. Everyone with a bathtub is playing with hops in Shizuoka.
@OlDirtyGaijin Not sure about Kurata Narusawa, I’ve had a number of the Garcia Brewing beers. Their Incan Empire IPA is good
