I found myself with a little spending money and an older-model XP-PEN Artist 12 was on sale, and so I finally have a device with pen input again! (My slightly cursed Ubuntu Surface has pen input, but I've never gotten Krita to work on it worth a darn.) So now I'm learning this hardware and Krita at the same time, since I haven't touched it in like 5 years. Early impressions (i.e. I got it all set up and noodled around for 20 minutes) are good! It feels much better than I thought a sub-$200 device would, the buttons are nice and clicky, and the software actually seems decent. I really need to dial in the pressure curve because it's not anywhere near the way I naturally use a pen or pencil. I have some shortcuts to set up or rearrange. And I haven't started to scratch the surface of Krita's functionality. But so far I'm charmed by the device and enjoying Krita. Add another FOSS creative app to the mix!
