Brings the meaning of mooning to a new level.

I don’t understand the dimensions. If it’s 100m wide (I assume the diameter of it as seen from the top) then what is 50km long ? is it 50km deep ? I don’t think so we wouldn’t see the bottom of it sunlit. So what is it ?

NASA and JAXA Find Moon Tunnel Ideal for First Moonbase | GlobalSpec

Scientists at JAXA, the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency, found a network of tunnels on the moon that would be perfect for the first lunar settlement. The Moon cave would shield lunar settlers and their equipment from cosmic radiation and meteorites.

Its tube shaped, parallel to the surface. Not just the hole in the picture
oh ok I understand now. Cheers
That’s where the props and catering equipment is stored after staging the moon landing
They hired Stanley Kubrick to fake the moon landing in 1969, but since he was a real stickler for authenticity, he filmed it on location.
