@veronica In all social media spaces, there are too many people who belittle those who fall for scams, or even for asking if something is a scam.

Treating people with compassion when they need help goes a long way.

@tacnextgen @veronica its easy to blame people in hindsight but scams are becoming increasingly sophisticated. And telling people to "get off the internet and dont use computers then" because they aren't linux/FOSS users is self-righteousness taking a cheap shot.

Everyone is vulnerable to some kind of exploit.

But yeah, I'd rather have someone bug me asking if something is a scam or not, rather than watch them have to suffer something like identity theft. If people get made fun of by asking for help, they'll stop asking.
