I'm very happy to see how my 3-year journey replacing big tech with privacy-oriented, humane platforms is shaping:

Gmail: Tuta and Proton

Google Calendar: Fossify

Google Maps: Organic Maps

Twitter: Mastodon

Facebook, Instagram: Pixelfed

WhatsApp, Telegram: Signal

Android: GrapheneOS

Windows: Linux Mint

It was overwhelming, it took time and research. But I can tell you that another digital experience is possible.

Now I'm thrilled to have devices that belong to ME, like in the old days.

@linguistgoneforeign Replace 'old' Organic Maps with the new kid on the block: @CoMaps
@bash2 @linguistgoneforeign @CoMaps I've been passively keeping an eye out for an OSM client with an actually good UX to finally ditch Google Maps. Would you say CoMaps is there yet to be a full replacement?
@engideer @bash2 @linguistgoneforeign @CoMaps i use it as my daily driver. Sometimes I fall back to google maps whenever something i need isn't in osm.
Comaps isn't perfect but UX is one of the main priorities for the project and it definitely shows when compared to other osm clients.
And they are actively working on a number of the gaps that it does have.
I like it.
Hope this helps
@cubeofcheese Absolutely, it's good to know it's daily drivable. Just installed it and did have a very good first impression 😊
