Kootenay: The Park Built for a Highway

Kootenay National Park has a unique origin. It was created in 1920 when BC gave land to the federal government in exchange for building the Banff-Windermere Highway. This 'highway for land' deal resulted in a park that protects a significant corridor of the Rockies, including the famous hot springs and Marble Canyon. #Canada #Kootenay #CanadianHistory #ParksCanada 🇨🇦
