Follower Tab has been with us for a couple of months, and as it's often the case, we can't imagine life without this feature ๐Ÿ˜ Super handy for:

- Evaluating alternative options while shopping
- Keeping your research tidy without being dragged down the rabbit hole

If you haven't started using this yet, this video is for you!

@Vivaldi
That seems like it could be useful.

@Vivaldi Hey, Vivaldi, you got an ordinary print web page on that? some of us don't like watching TV, as we can read way faster than people can talk, and it's also copy-pastable...

You guys are awesome for doing what you do, just trying to make things awesome-er...

@stonebear2 you can read the documentation about it here: https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/tabs/follower-tab/

@Vivaldi is this media available on a non Google platform ?

I use Vivaldi. Iโ€™d be interested in learning to use it more effectively.

@D5V3 https://vimeo.com/1191154236/f19658ab3e I'll post it on vivaldi.net right away too!

@Vivaldi Thank you for the prompt response. Iโ€™ll check the website because the link isnโ€™t working for me.
@D5V3 ha, weird. Well it's the featured video on the frontpage of vivaldi.net, you'll just need to scroll down a bit
@Vivaldi it's a really cool feature, I wrote about a neat use case for it as well: https://fantinel.dev/blog/vivaldi-follower-tabs
Give any website a two-pane layout with this new Vivaldi feature - Matt Fantinel

The new "Follower Tabs" in Vivaldi 7.9 makes navigating link-heavy pages way easier without losing your attention span.

@fantinel what a nice looking website! Congrats and thanks for writing about it :) Did you come up with any other name suggestions since March?
@Vivaldi not really... as a dev, names aren't my forte. How about "foobar2026"?
@Vivaldi thats super handy :D . Also Vivaldi please fix so i can have the browser in dark mode but still get websites in light mode for websites that dont work so great in dark mode. know your guys are smart enough to handle that :D
@CrazyFinn you can have a dark theme or set different themes for day/night and schedule them to change whenever you want (settings > themes > theme schedule). You can also set websites on auto mode or light mode) (settings > Appearance > Website appearance) and then add a command chain to force dark mode on the websites you want. You can do that by going to Settings > Quick Commands > Command Chains and adding a new one with the command "Toggle force a dark theme on all websites". Once you have that command chain you can set a keyboard shortcut for it or add it as a button to the UI ๐Ÿ˜Š
@Vivaldi oh i will give that a try for sure. :) thanks. I tout appearance website was on all or no1
@Vivaldi that seems to work like a charm :) Not the best solution but it works ๐Ÿ˜. Would love a solution with a setting and a toggle in the address bar or something similar. ;)

@Vivaldi I started Vivaldi today after a while and got greeted with this. Especially for Wikipedia research it's great.

I always command click on a link so it opens in a new tab. But then I have to switch and close it afterwards or tile stuff myself. This will definitely help.

@Vivaldi When will you finally host and share your services trough EU server / CDN ?

Instead of Hyperscaller and other monopolistic US owned server / CDN ? (a server in EU owned from US company is de facto US server per Cloud act).

@Vivaldi As I wrote in Vivaldi Telegram channel: Great feature, but is it possible to assign shortcut, for example - hold F key while pressing link to open it as follower tab?
@sirrichard I asked the devs, the logic is complicated for a keyboard shortcut, but perhaps a mouse gesture, as we already have the option for "open link in tiled tab" there. Can't promise anything, but they'll look into it :)
@Vivaldi Great, hope that devs figures something out :)

@Vivaldi It seems that very slowly we are moving towards a Multiple Document Interface for the Desktop version!
